"Where have you been?"
OK, so it's been six months since I last wrote here. Let me explain:
February was a slow month. I didn't go anywhere. March was looking that way too, until I got a phone call out of the blue to head to Reno, Nevada. I spent a week there, followed by a return visit to Sacramento. Because I had enrolled full-time in seminary this past semester, things worked out OK. On my travel weeks I was able to attend class remotely (Thank You Skype!). So evenings were spent in class or doing homework. Besides, in Reno the hotel was across the street from the office. That meant I didn't rent a car to go exploring. Still, there is much to see in and around Reno. A return visit with the family wouldn't be out of the picture.
April saw me in Tampa, Florida and Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Again, not much exploring done due to schoolwork. But things came to a grinding halt in May - not a single week of work! Thankfully, I had enrolled in two Spring classes and was able to complete one before things picked up in June.
Ah, June. The first week had me in Southern California for three days. The following week I was again in Reno, Nevada. If you insist, here is a photo of the mountains from the airport in Reno:
(Yes, there's a major construction project at the airport. But look at the mountains!)
And then I went to Honolulu.
OK, so I knew this trip was coming since April. And I worked it out so that at the end of the week my family would come out and join me for a week-long family vacation. It was as wonderful a time as we've ever had together! I could go on and on about it, but I'll let the pictures do the talking:
Hawaii Trip (9 albums)
After a two-week stay at home, I am now back in Honolulu for the next three weeks. No, I am not looking for sympathy. But I do want you to know that the weather is beautiful, the groceries are very expensive and, besides the weather and the food prices, I wouldn't know that I was in Hawaii.
I've got a lot of reading to catch up on at night, so I won't be going on too many adventures while I'm out here this time. But, if you have a question or suggestion, please feel free to drop me an e-mail. And, if you're in the neighborhood, feel free to give me a holler and we'll go hang out!
