Catching up
Hi all,
Sorry I've been away from here for a couple of weeks. Here's a photo essay to help catch you up:
October 17-19, 2008: The Grapevine Project held its Fall Conference in Lake James, Indiana.

October 20-24, 2008: Hartford, CT/Newton, MA - A couple of Fall Color pictures from Hartford, and some pictures of the great youth group in Newton, MA. http://picasaweb.google.com/khalaf.writes/BostonInTheFall
October 25, 2008: Back home we let the cat out, and it quickly hunted down a chipmunk. Problem was, a hawk was after that same chipmunk. Right in front of us, the hawk buzzed the cat and the chipmunk. I ran for the camera and got these pictures: http://picasaweb.google.com/khalaf.writes/TheHawk
October 27-28, 2008: Two-day trip to Oak Brook, IL - No great pictures; just a wonderful dinner with Ash and Samih that Monday night.
October 30-31, 2008: We took the kids to Tiffin, Ohio for some family getaway time. We checked into the hotel and I took the boys down to the pool. After breakfast the next morning, we drove out to Port Clinton, Ohio and took the ferry over to Put-In-Bay on South Bass Island in Lake Erie. All the tourist stuff was closed, but we still had a neat time exploring the island. We rented a 6-passenger golf cart from the ferry landing and drove in to town. We walked through the park and had lunch at the one open restaurant on the island. The restaurant's owner was getting ready for the evening's Halloween bash, and so he tried out his cotton candy machine on us. The kids loved it! Afterwards, on our way back to the ferry landing we found the original one-room schoolhouse (circa 1855), complete with furnishings. Much to our surprise and delight, it was open and unattended. We walked through and enjoyed a "back in time" moment. http://picasaweb.google.com/khalaf.writes/PutInBay
November 1, 2008: On our way back from Tiffin, we decided to drive through the small town of Grand Rapids, Ohio. We took a walk along the river by the rapids, and found some beautiful wildflowers: http://picasaweb.google.com/khalaf.writes/GrandRapidsOH
November 2-8, 2008: I'm in Rogers, Arkansas this week. Last night I treated myself to a birthday dinner at Penguin Ed's. While the food wasn't spectacular, it was all about ambience. Tiny booths, the wood paneling everywhere, phones at the tables for ordering - it was just the quirky, out-of-the-place kind of spot you always see featured on TV travel shows. The food wasn't particularly special, but it was bar-b-que nonetheless. http://picasaweb.google.com/khalaf.writes/PenguinEdS
Thanks for keeping in touch!
Blessings,
Khalaf.
